Child Trafficking and Forced Marriage

Child trafficking is when a young person is forced or tricked into leaving their home – sometimes from their own country. This includes:

  • Being bought or sold for money
  • Given away by their family because the family need money
  • Forced from their home because of war
  • Chooses to leave home, thinking they are going to a better life
  • Being forced to move away to marry someone they don’t want

Child trafficking and forced marriage affect the lives of many young people. They can end up in awful conditions, or forced to do things they do not want to do.
